How a fallen tree reminded me to keep spiritually fit...

This past weekend, I finally got around to dealing with the tree that had fallen in my yard... Thankfully, it didn't hit the house or the deck or the wires leading to the house and considering how big it was, that is truly miraculous... Now more than a week later, I decided to "man up" and start the tearing apart process so that it could be hauled away...

And here is where my body decided to remind me that I am failing at two things: one, I'm not keeping my body from aging and two, I'm not even currently maintaining enough regular manual labor to justify the "attack" upon the tree using only my hands and a small saw... Yes, you surmised correctly: I am aching this morning...

So besides the reminder of how my body is no longer the young fit beast that it used to be, what did I learn? Simple... If I don't maintain something, such as my body, it will eventually fall into a relaxed and wimpified version of it's potential... In my spiritual life, this is also true... I need to keep my mind and my heart excercised and continually fed so that I don't wake up with a spiritual body that just wants to stay in bed...

May we always remember that in-between our times of rest, we must keep our spiritual lives actively toned to purpuse in this life: to Love God and to Love People...

The Beauty of Change...

This past weekend, my wife and I traveled around the Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee areas seeing both new sights as well as visiting old stomping grounds... The beauty of the area, especially during this transitional time of the year, was spectacular and a clear reminder that God can make even the changing of seasons an amazingly beautiful experience...

Much like the trees that shed their old leaves before the hard winter of preparation that leads to the Spring bloom, we too should look at times of change and pruning as marks of God's beautiful process of making us more like Him... Sure, sometimes this process may seem cold and lonely with no foreseeable end in sight, but rest assured that God is making something beautiful in your winter cocoon... Just wait; Spring is coming soon!

Alaskan Cruise with Alistair Begg!

For years, my wife and I have wanted to take an Alaskan Cruise but have not been able to do so because of scheduling conflcts that arise... So, we find ourselves continually saying, "maybe next year." Well, next year may just be the year!

At the end of August 2020 and going into September, Alistair Begg with Laura Story and Michael O'Brien are leading an Alaskan Cruise! Of course, we don't want to go alone... so who else would be interested in joining us?

Check out the details and information at the link below and let me know if you're interested...

Gator's first blog...

Hallo, Missionary Radio family... As I continue to get settled here, I thought it was time to begin a blog of random and occassional thoughts to share... For this first blog, I thought I would simply say "hallo" and open the conversation up to You... What are some things that I can tell you about myself? I'm asking you because I have noticed that some times we think we know what people care about regarding us, but in reality, we've only mentioned things that we are proud about... That's not always a bad thing, but this just seems to be a better option, I think... Fire away!

Verse of the day
