Hopkinsville Solid Waste Authority will begin leaf collection Thursday, November 1 and continue through January 31, 2019.  Leaves are collected by large vacuum trucks that cross each section of the city, making two complete passes through each neighborhood and multiple passes on major thoroughfares.  Visit hoptown.org/leaves for the latest schedule of collection zones and other helpful guidelines.  Residents who use compostable bags should call the Solid Waste office to have those bags picked within 48 hours: (270) 887-6245.  Be ready on collection day. It may be weeks before they’re in your neighborhood again.  Place leaves curbside and in your yard only.  Do not mix with limbs, brush, rocks, or anything else—only leaves.  For clogged drainage grates, call 270-890-0600.

Verse of the day
  • [Zechariah prophesied concerning John,] "You, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God." —Luke 1:76-78
