Pennyroyal Hospice will be holding a Volunteer Training Session on Monday, August 17th, and Wednesday, August 19th,

The Housing Authority of Hopkinsville will begin accepting applications for its Section 8 Rental Assistance Program beginning Monday, August 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., except on Holidays. The 3rd Annual “Cruisin’ the Creek Car Show” is coming to Yellow Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 22nd. Yellow Creek Baptist Church is located at 4506 Ellis Mills Road in Cumberland City, TN. This car show is open to all cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors. Car and truck entrants will have a chance to win a 1986 Corvette and show spectators will have a chance to win a 1985 Mustang-must be present to win. Other prizes include a $500 gift card for Hutson John Deere for tractor entrants and a $500 gift card from Appleton’s for motorcycle entrants. A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has started sidewalk upgrade work along Skyline Drive from Ft. Campbell Blvd. to East 9th St. (Pembroke Rd.) in Hopkinsville, KY. Sometime in mid-April, the contractor plans to begin milling and asphalt paving along this same section. Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions and equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

The “Trash for Cash Program” has officially opened for 2015. Registration packets may be picked up and returned to the Public Works Complex, located at 705 North Main Street in Hopkinsville, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The “Trash for Cash Program” will run from now until October 31st, or until the required 158 miles are completed. Tax identification numbers for all non-profit groups are required in order to participate in the program. The Creation Museum will host the Fifth Annual College Expo on November 6th and 7th.
