Topic:  Blood Drive Fundraiser


Western KY Regional Blood Center (WKRBC) is having a blood drive fundraiser at Christian County Head Start (CCHS), 1355 Glass Ave., in Hopkinsville, KY.  It will be in the activities room on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Participants will receive a t-shirt in appreciation for your gift of life.  WKRBC will donate $5.00 to CCHS for each blood donation collected.  For more information, call toll free at 1-888-684-9296.  The blood drive coordinator is Laurie Ahonen at 270-707-2267.

Topic: First United Methodist Church


First United Methodist Church, located at 13th and Main Streets in Hopkinsville, invites everyone for a special service on Sunday, December 14th.  There will be one service at 11:00 a.m.  The program will be “Speaking of Christmas as Told by the Shepherds through Music”.  The program is brought to you by the Chancel Choir, Praise Team, Bell Choir, Youth Choir, Sanctus Choir, and the Cherub Choir.

Topic:  First Baptist Church in Madisonville, KY


First Baptist Church, located at 246 N. Main Street, in Madisonville, KY, invites everyone to experience the place of Jesus’ birth.  The annual “Return to Bethlehem” invites you to walk through and enjoy the sights and sounds of Bethlehem indoors.  The dates are Saturday, Dec. 13th, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.; Sunday, December 14th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.; Monday, December 15th, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, December 16th, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  The public is cordially invited.  Groups of 15 or more are asked to call 270-821-3611.

Topic:  Learning to Live with Cancer Support Group


The Learning to Live with Cancer Support Group meetings are on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. at the Doctor’s Pavilion in lower conference room E.  The Doctor’s Pavilion is located at the corner of Canton and 17th Streets in Hopkinsville.

Topic: Compassionate Friends-Candle Lighting


The annual candle lighting and potluck for the Compassionate Friends in Hopkinsville, KY, will be Tuesday, December 9th, at 6:00 p.m.  It will be held at the Christian County Baptist Association Bldg., located at 905 North Drive.  Those who want a candle lit for their child, grandchild, or sibling, and have them listed in the program, need to submit the needed information by November 18th.  The needed information includes: name, date of birth and death, parent’s names, and your signature.  Also, the Compassionate Friends will be participating in the Hopkinsville Christmas parade on Saturday, December 6th.  Call Karen Cantrell at 270-348-0729 for details or if you want to participate.

Topic:  Futsal – In-door Soccer


Futsal is a fast, indoor soccer game that is a “4 verses 4” game with no goalie.  It will be played on the Hopkinsville YMCA gym floor from January 3rd through February 21st.  The cost is $45 for YMCA members and $50 for non-members.  Each game is only 20 minutes long and teams play two games each Saturday.  A jersey shirt is included in registration. Players need tennis shoes and shin guards to play.  Registration is now through Sunday, November 30th.  You may stop by the YMCA on Eagle-Way by-pass to register or go online to: www.hopkinsvilleymca.org.

Topic: “The 100+ Leading Ladies” Luncheon


On Thursday, December 11th, the “Convenient Shopper Magazine” in Clarksville, TN, will host “The 100+ Leading Ladies” luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn, 290 Alfred Thun Road, in Clarksville, TN.  The honorary guest and keynote speaker is retired Commandant Sergeant Major Tresa King, the Army’s first female commandant to lead the Army’s Drill Sergeant School.  Eight women will be honored for their community work and service.  The event is from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and doors open at 9:15 a.m.  The event includes a 5-star lunch, gift bag, spoken word artist, dance ministry, and performances by DOH, Ahauve Orusa, and Terrishiell Stone.  Also, on the program are Wes Morgan, Keebra Moore, and “Not Easily Broken”.  For more information and tickets, call 931-980-4661.
