Volunteer Training for Pennyroyal Hospice

Pennyroyal Hospice will be holding a Volunteer Training Session on:

Tuesday, November 4th ,  and Thursday, November 6th, 2014

in the Conference Room of the Pennyroyal Hospice building at

220  Burley Avenue, Hopkinsville, KY.

The class will begin at 9:00 am each day and finish no later than 3:00 pm.  

There is no charge for the training and lunch will be provided. 

(Both days are required to complete the class.)

Topic:  Marriage Conference at Cedar Grove Baptist Church

Topic:  The Greater Clarksville Chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship

 

The Greater Clarksville Chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship will have its 4th annual fundraising dinner and silent auction on Saturday, Nov. 8th, at 5:00 p.m.  It will be held at Mt. Topic:  Free Auto Winter Check-ups

 

Dickson Presbyterian Church, located at 500 Hwy. Topic:  “Keeping their Faith in Public Schools” and “Faith, Freedom, and Public Schools”

 

The Christian County Baptist Association, area churches, and local businesses will be sponsoring two seminars for Christian County School District’s educators and parents on November 7th and 8th

 

For the general public and parents, Edgewood Baptist Church will host a seminar on November 7th from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  The seminar is titled, “Keeping their Faith in Public Schools”.  This free event will focus on how to help your children go through the public schools with their faith and values intact.  A freewill offering will be taken for Gateways to Better Education Ministry.

 

A professional development seminar for teachers and administrators will be held on Saturday, November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Christian County Middle School Fine Arts Center, 215 Glass Avenue, Hopkinsville, KY.  This seminar is titled, “Faith, Freedom, and Public Schools”.  This seminar will clarify the confusion surrounding separation of Church and State.  Those attending this three and one-half hour seminar will receive professional development credit, normally valued at $120.  This seminar is available for a fee of $30.  To register, go online to www.gtbe.org/events (GatewaysToBetterEducation.org and click on the “upcoming events” tab).  You can also call 1-800-929-1163 for more information.

The Christian County Literacy Council is calling our community to observe the 23rd “Community Reader Day” on Friday, November 7th.  A child’s ability to read is influenced by home and school environments and by the whole community.  “Community Reader Day” seeks to inspire all area children to become readers who are eager to learn.  Be among the 275 volunteers reading to the 8,000 students in Christian County’s 13 elementary schools, preschools, Head Start, and day care centers.  You may contact Beverly Whitfield at the Literacy Council Office at 270-962-7114.
